RE: ICON Binnacle Mount Remote Controls – Loss of Control Hazard

Dear Evinrude® E-TEC® Registered Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of applicable laws and regulations. BRP is conducting a safety recall on ICON binnacle mount remote controls.

Our records show that you are the owner of an Evinrude E-TEC outboard equipped with an ICON binnacle mount remote control(s) affected by this recall. Your ICON binnacle mount remote control(s) requires an important service procedure.

What is the potential problem?

A limited number of ICON binnacle mount remote control levers may be incorrectly assembled and pull away from the remote control resulting in loss of throttle and shift control.

This situation may cause loss of boat control which could lead to serious injuries or even death of the operator, passengers, or people nearby.

What should you do?

Call an authorized Evinrude/Johnson dealer and make an appointment to have your ICON binnacle mount remote control(s) serviced. The solution is the inspection of the control and if necessary the replacement of the control. The service will be performed at no charge to you. For your safety, please do not attempt to use the ICON binnacle mount remote control(s) until an authorized Evinrude/Johnson dealer has completed the necessary service.

What to do if you feel this notice is in error

This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. Affected ICON binnacle mount remote control(s) must be serviced. If you no longer own your Evinrude E-TEC outboard equipped with an ICON binnacle mount remote control(s), kindly complete and return the enclosed postage-paid reply card, so we may update our records and contact the current owner about this important safety recall.
