RE: Evinrude® E-TEC® G2 74° V6 (3.4 L) Outboards – Loss of Steering Control Hazard

Dear Evinrude E-TEC Registered Owner,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of applicable laws and regulations. BRP is conducting a voluntary safety recall on Evinrude E-TEC G2 74° V6 (3.4 L) outboards.

Our records show that you are the owner of an outboard(s) affected by this recall.

What is the potential problem?

A limited number of outboards may have a steering component which is incorrectly assembled. In some circumstances, this situation may result in a loss of steering control and possibly cause serious injuries or even death.

What should you do?

Call an authorized Evinrude dealer and make an appointment to have your outboard(s) serviced. Meanwhile, do NOT operate the outboard over 3000 RPM. Do NOT steer the outboard hard-over to port or starboard. The solution is the completion of a steering system test, and, if necessary, the replacement of the stern and swivel bracket assembly. The service will be performed at no charge to you.

If you have questions, need assistance, want to report any difficulty in obtaining repairs or to find the nearest authorized Evinrude dealer. Visit www.evinrude.com or call 1-262-884-5993.

What to do if you feel this notice is in error.

This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. Affected outboard(s) must be serviced. If you no longer own your outboard(s) please contact BRP at your earliest convenience.

Your continued satisfaction with your engine is important to us. Please understand that we have taken this action in the interest of your safety and your outboard's proper operation. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
